It's called
spray, graffiti or graffiti (Italian graffiti, graffire, and this in turn from
the Latin scariphare 'influence with scariphus' stiletto or awl with which the
ancient writers on tablillas) to various forms of registration or painting,
usually performed on street furniture. The Royal Spanish Academy defines
"graphite" painted as a particular, and its corresponding plural is
"graffiti", although this word is used specifically to refer to the
inscriptions arqueológicas.3
Its origins
are the marks left on walls since the days of the Roman Empire, especially
those that are satirical or critical.
